Realizing LOST wouldn't last as a modern show.
Main Post:
The more I think about it, LOST's format only really works as a 2000's show. Of course, it is nice to binge the show now. It's how I watched the show, and I didn't live through the weekly frustration of wanting to know what happened next.
But what I mean is the filler that LOST has. After all, most major shows now have very few episodes, and it is mostly structured around plot. Obviously the plot-centric episodes are important, but the stuff in between is what allowed us to get closer to this cast and worry about who might be absent in the next episode.
If LOST was made now, I bet it would be only around 8 episodes per season. No time for golf or van escapades. Which is something I worry about when I keep hearing rumors about a reboot in other corners of the internet.
I mean I get that there were moments where filler might've been an issue. I didn't really care for Nikki and Paulo, but it gave the writers time for other moments that seem to be fond LOST memories for a lot of people.
Top Comment: Lost was far too extravagant to last as a modern show. The huge cast, the on-location shoots, the orchestra scoring every episode. It might work on HBO, but it would be limited to 8-episode seasons, or on Netflix, where it would probably get cancelled after 2 seasons. I always consider Lost to be the crowning achievement of network TV drama. It's kind of amazing that it a) got made, and b) got to finish its run. It definitely wouldn't get made today (on ABC, or any of the networks, because nobody watches them anymore). It came at a very precise moment when networks were trying to take bigger swings to combat cable (2002-2006), but before audiences got far too small to finance it (after 2010).

"they were dead the whole time" has to be the biggest misconception in television ever, right? LOST spoilers
Main Post:
the show finished almost 14 years ago and there's still people who 100% believe they were dead the whole time, or that the island was purgatory, when the finale explicitly says the opposite. i cant think of any other tv show that's so widely misunderstood.
edit: saying "they weren't dead the whole time" isn't a spoiler because the showrunners themselves were saying it publicly from the beginning.
Top Comment: I'd wager a large portion of people saying that never finished the series. IIRC, Shepard's dad's entire purpose in the final season is to explicitly explain things to the viewer.
It really upsets me that there hasnt been anything like 'Lost' and most likely never will be. That kind of television is just so special and magical, even the later seasons.
Main Post:
The way every episode contributed to the story with 20+ episodes and how many twists and storylines they were able to create while making us care for these characters was just brilliant. Like there wont ever be a show like this ever again. It was literally a once in a lifetime show and im sad.
Top Comment: Give FROM a chance. It’s not exactly the same, but very similar vibe.
Can I have my LPs back pretty please? Third place and lost 23LP.
Main Post:
I don’t get it. I went 3rd and they still took my LP. Is this how villains are made?
Top Comment: Im pretty sure it’s a visual bug that happens because you quit out your last game too fast. You probably went 8th went into next game got third. It calculates both game here so -43 +20. Ends up with -23.
Can we consider making it a rule to not discuss the TV show "Lost" in this subreddit.
Main Post:
I'm tired, boss.
If you think the show is bad just please stop watching it. Reading the constant stream of comments about how this show is going to end up just like Lost is just getting annoying at this point.
....and before the replies start coming in with "People are allowed to give criticism about the show because they care about it and want it to turn out better!!!!" let me say this:
I promise you that everyone here has already heard your opinion about Lost. Use the search function on this subreddit and you'll find out that your edgy and depressing comment about how you've given up hope for this show and "From is just a Lost clone" is not a new or unique take. Dooming about how this show is destined to fail is not going to accomplish anything.
What do you hope to achieve by talking about how much you were burnt by Lost? Do you want the creators of Lost to come on here and publicly apologize? Do you want them to promise they won't hurt you again? I swear some of the comments go from well meaning discussions to sounding more like a trauma dump about how your ex-girlfriend cheated on you with your roommate 10 years ago. It's time to move on. Lost can't hurt you anymore. If this show ends up having an awful ending I promise there was nothing you could post about Lost that would have saved it. Lets just enjoy this show for what it is right now instead of acting like it's already doomed to fail.
The mods could just add a sticky to the top of the subreddit that directs people to the Lost subreddit if they want to discuss that TV show. You can go be depressing over there so people who are trying to enjoy From can discuss it here.
I'd rather be reading the theories people come up with about how Boyd's wife will be reincarnated into a blade of grass, thanks.
Top Comment: I'm more concerned with this show turning out like Game of Thrones than Lost 😂
Is it worth starting or is it like the TV series Lost?
Main Post:
I saw a users comment on here that mentioned if this show is like Lost. I've not started watching yet and I'm worried that maybe it is?
I got really pissed off with Lost's constant mystery and messy story because of the complete round-abouts, red herrings, false flags, etc.
It got so ridiculous it became a joke that the "writers themselves seemed lost".
So people who've seen Lost - is Blacklist like that?
EDIT: I've started watching it!
If anyone wants me to do a post with my questions and suspicions as a new viewer just give the word. I'm up to episode 10 now!
You may be wondering how considering my post said I hadn't started? Well - that was a small fib. I was a few episodes in and wanted to know if I should continue.
Top Comment: First few seasons are pretty good. After that most of the characters develop mental disabilities.

[NO SPOILERS] I’ve heard this shows is kinda like Lost. I loved that show, does this one have a similar episodic/mysterious nature to it?

Top Comment: This show is everything Lost wishes it could be. And that’s coming from a very big fan of Lost. Like Lost, throughout the seasons it asks a million questions, they gives you answers but those answers just lead to more questions normally. But what the show has that Lost doesn’t is a completely planned out storyline from start to finish, answering all of your questions by the time the final episode ends. Dark was written like a play season one is act one season two is act two and season three is act three the finale. Honestly it’s beautiful and might be the best show ever made.
